Managed to convince my son to join me on a quick trip out today. The weather looked iffy so we stayed close to home. It was dead calm at first but ended up being 15 knots or so when we called it quits. About 15 minuted into the trip, BZZZZzzzzzz, fish on. After some maneuvering between keeping the boat straight and not leaving my son and the rod get pulled into the water, he managed to land a nice 27 7/8"er. It was too close to keep (even thought he wanted to), so back she went. Surprisingly, the fish had sea lice on her. After two more knock downs (and fouled hooks) we decided it was time to head home. It was a fun day to be on the water with my son.

Early Success
Had enough of trolling so I decided to try my luck with the fly rod today. The wind was playing tricks, going from 15 knots down to almost nothing, then back up again. I managed to find some decent fish in several different locations. Caught about a dozen tonight including hooking into a big fish along the channel that took me into my backing (big time). Unfortunately, I managed to get the line wrapped around a cleat and she broke off (of course I didn't recess them like I usually do). Had a lot of fun landing several fish that went around 25".

Boatyard Tournament 2010
Went over to the dark side for opening day. It's was a tough day to be on the water with a steady 20 knots and gusts up to 30. We managed three fish that all went between 37-39". Had a planner board come loose which made for an interesting "fire drill". Just imagine 30 knots, 11 lines in the water, one working engine, 10 guys that only fish one day a year who had consumed one too many beverages and me wondering what looks wrong with the lines blowing in the wind. If you can believe it, we didn't get any tangles and even circled back to pick up the board. Still can't figure out what happened because the line didn't break (800lb Mono), it just came unclipped. Can't wait to put the broom sticks away!!!
